Our Projects

Anbalayam Trust has been working for the development of the poor people in 35 villages of Nagapattinam district.

All these villages are very backward. The socioeconomic and educational condition of these target area is very backward.

The condition of the people is very pathetic. The literacy rate of the target people is below 30%, especiall the rate of women literacy is below 20% Most of the people are working in unorganized sector.

The condition of the women is very critical. The women are decriminated by both family and society.

The rain fall rate in the district is below than the average level. A cyclone called Kaja had hit the coastal district very badly. Nagai is one of most affected district. Most of the houses and huts were damaged.

Agriculture crops and trees were fallen down. The people affected very badly and they lost their belongings and resource. Majority of the poor people are having no property and regular income. There are no any job opportunities throughout the year regularly.

This project is focused on rural women's empowerment & Livelihood: kizhvelur is most backward block in the Nagapattinam district. It is Agro based area where majority of the women are doing agricultural activity.

The socio, economic condition of the rural women are very poor. The men are doing unorganized work. The main bread winner of the family is man.

But they are spending half of their earning for their own, such as smoking and alcohol. So the family is suffering mostly the minimum income earn by the women are supporting their family expenses.

So the earning potential of the women should be increased, then only their family expenses such as children's education medical expenses food etc. Since the bread winner of the family is men, he ill-treats the women and she is discriminated by the man in many ways.

The women belongs to below the poverty line, are not having any savings to meet their urgen needs such as, medical expenses, educational expenses and other house hold expenses. Presently the most of the MFI also not encourage the Savings among Women. The poor women barrow loan from the money lender for high rate of interest for their urgent need. The rate of interest may be above 60%. So, most of the rural women are paying half of their income to pay the interest of the loan tha they borrowed from the money lenders.
